Dr Sachdev performs non-cosmetic eyelid surgery, including blepharoplasty, ptosis, skin cancer excision with reconstruction, ectropion and entropion repair.

As a specialist eye surgeon, she takes pride in producing good cosmetic surgical results.

Blepharoplasty

With time, we tend to accumulate additional skin on the upper (or rarely lower) eyelid. This can be removed with a surgical procedure.

There are certain additional tests that require to be performed at your clinic appointment for it to be considered non-cosmetic (to deem the procedure covered by Medicare or Private Health Fund).

Surgery is performed as a day case procedure, under sedation, with good results.

Dr Sachdev will discuss whether this is suited for you.

Ptosis

Ptosis, or droopy eyelid, is when the upper eyelid muscle is weak and most commonly occurs with time.

Certain ptoses (plural) are suited for surgical repair, and this will be assessed at your clinic appointment.

In some cases, a blepharoplasty can be performed at the same time to give the best cosmetic result.

Eyelid lumps/Skin cancer

Both benign and cancerous “lumps” can occur on any eyelid. In order to determine the exact pathology (ie if cancerous), surgical excision is best. Dr Sachdev performs excision of all types of “lumps” on the eyelid, including skin cancers.

There are different surgical techniques that can be used, with some cases requiring a skin graft, which will be discussed at length at your clinic appointment.

Skin grafts

There are certain surgical procedures that require repair using a skin graft. This is to ensure the best cosmetic result possible.

There are many options as to where the skin graft can be taken from, with the most common site being the upper eyelid. This is most common as this area has had similar sun exposure to where the lesion/cancer has been excised. There are other areas that can be used, and these will be discussed with Dr Sachdev at your clinic appointment.
